For His rich mercy, and invaluable goodness, pledged to God’s people in this sacred communion; to beg pardon for the defects God sees in our service; and to pray for the acceptance of our persons and our endeavors; for the gracious assistance of the Holy Spirit to enable us, as we have received Christ Jesus the Lord, to so walk in Him; that we may hold fast to that which we have received; that our walk of life may be such as is worthy of the Gospel; that we may always carry in our bodies the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our bodies; that our light may so shine before others, so that they may see our good works, and give glory to our Father who is in heaven (Matt. 5:16; 2 Cor. 4:10-11; Phil. 1:27; Col. 2:6; 1 Thess. 5:21; WCF 16.6).
